standard 10: teaching other teachers

essential knowledge: the teacher knows how to work with other adults and has developed skills in collaborative interaction appropriate for both face-to-face and virtual contexts.
After having been observed by my University Supervisor, Kael'a Silva, an instructor for the Associates of Arts in Teaching Program (AAT) at Leeward Community College, I was honored when she recognized my solo teaching efforts as exceeding expectations. She shared this information with her colleagues, my former professors, at LCC and they were also very intrigued by my efforts; so much so that I was invited to be a guest speaker at one of the education classes to discuss the cultural relevancy and connections of lesson planning for today's students.
I was absolutely honored, but very nervous, to be speaking in front of adults who are aspiring future teachers. I thought to myself as I stood in front of the class that I was in their shoes once and to have as many different mentors in different context is welcomed. I am grateful to know that I have taken the knowledge and skills I learned from the program, implemented it, and was recognized of being a model student teacher by my professors. This continues my evolution as a professional and an educator and hope that one day I can become part of the collegiate teaching ranks.
The included letter is addressed to the current principal of Waipahu High School where I completed my student teaching practicum.
